For the Mad Hatter, I was chiefly inspired by a blend of vintage silhouettes with modern fabrics. I wanted him to feel a bit out of place next to Cheshire and Alice's distinctly early 2000s sensibilities

He came together with pieces sourced from various vintage shops along the East Coast as well as a hat entirely build by me

The hat was made from a base of cardboard to which I attached a polyester velvet. the brim is a pleated brocade. I added a pocket to the side of the hat that was blended into the brocade fabric so the actor could store a prop in the hat.
Frank was a very fun foray into aging and distressing fabric. The goal was to pull from the original color pallet of the blue caterpillar with de saturated blues and greens. I wanted to add a lot of layers to him as well so his silhouette would be more of a lumpy caterpillar shape
The coat with all his concoctions in it was made by me from a tapestry blanket and distressed to be more ratty and lived in. The decoration of the various bottles and sunglasses was done by my co designer
Cheshire was the protagonist of this film and so she was the character that lived most heavily in the early 2000s. Her style is very much in line with the grunge, alternative sensibilities of the time.
As the titular character of this film, Alice needed to have a costume that seemed somewhat here, somewhat there, and overall very whimsical. She was a blend of both early 2000s styles as well as more modern 2020s aesthetic choices. I wanted her to feel almost otherworldly compared to her cousin Cheshire and give her a lot of elements that would glimmer and give her bit of a personal glow, like all the yellow and gold accents.
For Heart, our antagonist of the film, the goal was to create a vintage "inspired" ensemble for this to contrast with Cheshire's more modern esque style. It started off with the coat and was built up little by little as pieces inspired myself and my co designer.
For her makeup specifically I wanted to lean in the opposite direction and work with something very modern but sleek.
